Starting Point Session

This isn't a workout, and it isn't a sales pitch. It's one conversation and one assessment, so you know exactly where you stand and what makes sense from here.

What Actually Happens

Corey coaching a member's hinge form during a Starting Point Session

Your Starting Point Session starts with a short conversation — your goals, your history, anything you're managing or working around. Then we move through your Functional Age Score assessment together — nine key movements — so we can see where your body is strong and where focused training will help you the most.

From there, you'll get a real first workout, coached, using exercises that actually fit your body. You'll know which track is the right starting point for you — Performance or Longevity — and you'll leave with a clear plan for what comes next. No guesswork, and nothing assumed about what you're ready for.

From Corey

Corey Nielsen, owner and head coach at Fitspire

Hi, I'm Corey.

Week after week, I hear some version of the same few things.

"I don't want to walk into a gym feeling like everyone else already belongs except me."

"I don't want one workout to set me back for the rest of the week."

"I just want someone to tell me where to start."

That's exactly why the Starting Point Session exists.

I've worked with people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. Some were recovering from injuries. Some hadn't exercised in years. Some just wanted to stop wondering where to begin. Almost everyone is working toward the same thing — real strength, better movement, staying capable. What's different is the path to get there. A knee that won't tolerate a lunge yet might start with bands or wall sits. A shoulder that can't handle overhead work gets a different exercise entirely until it's ready. I'll be the one working with you during your session, and together we'll figure out the right starting point for your body before you ever join a group.

If you're ready to stop guessing where to start, I'd love to help.

Common Questions

FAQ

Am I the kind of person Fitspire is designed for?
If you're an adult 50 or older who wants to get stronger, move better, and stay independent — yes. Whether you're active and looking to stay ahead of it, or further along and just getting started, Fitspire was built specifically for you, not adapted from something built for someone younger.
What if I'm already exercising?
Great — the Starting Point Session will still show you exactly where your strength, balance, and mobility stand right now, and where structured, coached training can take you further than what you're doing on your own.
What if I have pain or an old injury?
This is common, and it's something we plan around from the very first session. Our standard is simple: you should feel little to no pain while training. If something doesn't feel right, we adjust until we find a version that works for your body.
Why do I need a Starting Point Session before joining a session?
It's how we make sure you start in the right place. Two people the same age can be in completely different physical condition — the Starting Point Session tells us where you actually are, not just how old you are.
What happens during my Starting Point Session?
A conversation, an assessment of nine key movements, and a real coached workout using exercises suited to your body. You'll leave knowing your best-fit track and your next step.
How much does the Starting Point Session cost?
The Starting Point Session itself is free. Pricing is always straightforward here — no surprises, no fine print. You can see current pricing on our Pricing page, or we're happy to cover it on your call before you ever book a session.
What happens after I reserve my Starting Point Session?
We'll give you a call first to learn a bit about your goals and any injuries or limitations, so we can make the most of your time when you arrive.
Do I have to join Fitspire after my Starting Point Session?
No. There's no obligation. Some people are ready to start right away, and some just want the clarity of knowing where they stand.
If I join Fitspire, who will I be working out with?
A small group of no more than six people, in the same track and general season of life as you — Performance or Longevity — always coached.
Where are you located?
6675 Falls of Neuse Rd, Suite 119, North Raleigh, NC 27615.

Most people who come in for a Starting Point Session say the same thing afterward — they wish they hadn't waited as long as they did.
